To the authors:
The revised manuscript presents a bias correction methodology that splits a simulated time series into a stationary and a non-stationary part in order to correct only the former. To my mind, the present manuscript is a valuable contribution to the scientific literature, as it (1) presents/develops a new bias correction methodology, and (2) discusses/evaluates carefully the novel method with an emphasis on various time scales (and also discussing previous studies that put forward conceptually similar ideas).
I appreciate that the authors have taken the revision step seriously. The additional careful discussion on limitations of the method has improved the manuscript and productively adds to the method development; and also helps to place and classify the method within the wider (and earlier) bias correction literature.
The additional method evaluation using power spectra also adds value to the method development, because a reader can understand which characteristics of the data/time series are being altered by the application of the correction. In summary, I believe the paper could be published in Earth System Dynamics.
